ARNOLD Wafer Identification System (WISE)
The Photovoltaic-system specialist ARNOLD GRUPPE, situated in Weilburg, has closed the gap in the traceability of wafers in wafer production with its ARNOLD Wafer Identification System WISE.
Thus it is possible —for the first time— to make a consistent documentation of all production and process data along the complete manufacturing chain from wafer to ingot.
A special barcode is applied on the brick surface in the ARNOLD processing line. The barcode assigns a unique identity to each individual wafer, which can be read and allocated by a specially developed camera system after wafering respectively separation. WISE opens new possibilities in the subsequent treatment for optimization of production process and improvement of product quality.

RADOX® Solar box
Connecting solar modules with the innovative RADOX® solar boxes. HUBER+SUHNER offers a wide range of products and services which provide the platform to build modern solar systems. Many years of experience in development and production of connections guarantee optimized solutions.
Production of the so-called “Solarbox” developed by HUBER+SUHNER, a cable system with halogen-free cables and connectors that connects the solar panels and transports the power from the roof into the mains after conversion from solar energy into electricity (photovoltaic), is already running at full speed.
Environmental influences
Here too the demand on the cable system is extreme: high differences in tem-perature must not harm the connection elements. Weather and mechanical influences are also factors in the challenge to a cable system. And in addition the cable system must be place-saving. HUBER+SUHNER’s booming solar business area is profiting from this, as Product Unit Manager, Max Göldi, in charge of this area, explains: “We deliver the whole range of connection technology. The module is of first-class quality and will last for up to 30 years.”
HUBER+SUHNER, as a supplier for solar technology, is expec-ting a turnover of over 100 million CHF in the next few years. Solar energy has become a sort of figure head for ecotechnology over the past few years. This has to do with the very promising growth figures and also has something to do with mankind’s age-old dream of utilising the sun’s energy. With innovative technologies and much industrial know-how, we have now come a good deal closer to this dream.
The HUBER+SUHNER Group, based in Herisau and Pfäffikon (Switzerland), is a leading international supplier of components and systems for electrical and optical connectivity for communications, transport and industry. FOXBOX
Spelsberg and Multi-Contact develop innovative PV junction box:
Quality in the box
The FOXBOX is a new type of junction box best suited for full-automated module assembly processes. Thanks to their robotics capabilities, the boxes can be applied to series production particularly quickly and economically. This not only provides a high level of security in the production process, but the result is a premium quality product with up to 25 years warranty on the modules.
The junction box has two parts with cables and diodes integrated in the upper part. The bottom part is bonded to the module and the upper part is simply clipped on top allowing easy, tool-less replacement of the top parts when necessary. This simplifies installation on the one hand - especially for difficult rooftop installations - on the other, electro-technical laymen can exchange components during service without the least of difficulty. In addition, this could reduce warehousing and logistics costs as only one spare part needs to be stocked.
The technology inside the FOXBOX is also configured to provide ease of use, reliability, durability and quality. The two parts of the junction box are neither soldered nor welded - contact is established through spring force when the upper part is clipped onto the module. No additional appliances or steps are required to install the junction box.
"We are delighted to present the FOXBOX, a new brand product for our customers," says Rainer Isenrich, CEO of Multi-Contact. "Together with Spelsberg, we have developed a completely new type of module junction box that guarantees a high degree of reliability and quality throughout its entire service life. It was to this end that we combined the know-how of two strongly established specialists in the photovoltaic market."

hei solar light
General Information
hei solar light™ is an innovative off-grid solar lamp for outdoor use in the private and public sector. Regarding design and functionality, this lamp represents a technological milestone in the development of professional solar lights.
Technological Innovation
Key-element of the new product is a cylindrically shaped photovoltaic module, which is completely integrated into the solar lamps body. This so-called “PV tube” is manufactured with a highly innovative, brand new lamination technology. The cylindrical shape together with the vertical orientation of the “PV tube” results in high energy yields even in winter time with weak day light. Additionally, the vertical arrangement prevents the photovoltaic module from snow coverage and dust. The extraordinary high energy yields in winter time in connection with high-tec and high-efficiency components, such as high-power LEDs and innovative battery technology, results in an outstanding performance of this new product.
Illuminating Body
The illuminating body is equipped with high-power, high-efficiency LEDs, which are arranged in a ring-shape at the bottom edge of the “PV tube”. Optical lenses in front of the LED focus the light beam and ensure a defined orientation and angle of the light beam. LED-groups can be controlled separately by intelligent electronics. Thus, it is possible to minimize so called “light pollution” and also energy demand.
Modular Concept
The modular concept of hei solar light™ enables simple adjustments to local climate conditions or the costumers design requirements, i.e. by changing the dimensions of the “PV tube”, by adding more photovoltaic energy production, more battery capacity or more LED power.
HEI Consulting GmbH: hei solar light™ is a brand new solar light that sets innovative aesthetic and technological standards for independent PV-lights. The lamp’s body combines outstanding design with extraordinary PV-technology. Efficient LEDs guarantee best performance. An energy-management-system integrated into the lamps body optimizes the operation of the light. Key-element of the technological innovation is a cylindrically shaped PV-module which results in high energy yields even in wintertime with weak daylight.
