SOLAR TRACKER
This is a single-axis system based on the philosophy of the fixed support, to which an eastwest movement on a tilted northsouth axis has been added, achieving performance of up to 25% depending on the angle of the axis.
This system has many advantages over conventional tracking systems:
-Low cost. It is great value for money, with an excellent price/production/quality ratio thanks to the reduced assembly, foundation laying and transportation times, and to the simplicity of the system.
-Requires a smaller surface area. It only takes up just one third of the land used by a traditional tracking system.
-Reduced costs and hours for civil works. It requires 80% fewer trenches for the electrical conduits, since these can be run through the structure of the tracker.
-Reduced assembly times. It is put together in a similar way to a fixed structure and to the concrete-free system, making for much quicker assembly.
-Reduced transportation. Thanks to the simplicity of the system, it does not require the transportation of complex, pre-assembled systems out of the workshop, thereby reducing transportation costs by half.
-Reduced maintenance costs. There are no difficult-to-reach grease nipples and the moving parts are mounted on state-of-the-art self-lubricating polymers that do not require oiling.
-Reduced environmental impact. Its foundations require no concrete.
-Operational safety. It incorporates operating control units that immediately provide notification in the unlikely event of any breakdown, plus all of its parts are standard and may be obtained at any industrial hardware store. It also incorporates a mechanism so that again, in the unlikely event of any breakdown, it then operates as a fixed structure, thereby avoiding a total loss of performance.
-Versatility. Being specifically designed for each installation, its racks can house any type of panel on the market, whether monocrystalline or polycrystalline, thin film or amorphous, with its price making it viable for the latter two options.

dyMat PYE
Product Briefing Outline
Backsheet is used to prevent electrical hazards and to grant high vapour barrier, thus avoiding power loss during the expected lifetime of the solar module. Traditional solutions are multiple layer bakcsheets with fluoropolymers on the air side, polyester (PET) in the middle, and a third layer towards the cell side. Most of the job is done by the polyester film that must be protected by an outer layer versus the air side.
Problem
Due to water permeation of the outer layer, the iner PET layer suffers from hydrolysis losing its original properties. Therefore the traditional backsheets is, to a certain extent, unbalanced, having a long lasting outer layer and the inner layer suffering from early aging. This phenomenon cannot be detected with the naked eye but is only visible through deeper analysis.
Solution
The problem analysis shows that improving the hydrolysis resistance of polyester is the key for a better performing backsheet. Coveme, in co-operation with DuPont Teiin Films, has developed a high grade PET inner layer with a lifetime five times longer than traditional polyester. The outer layer on the airside consists in a white opaque film developed to resist the environment and further protect the inner PET layer.
This first quantum leap solution is a lead for further improvements that will make solar module protection just a matter of material evolution.
Application, Platform and Availibility
Within its dyMat backsheet range, the new dyMat PYE material is Coverme's answer to the needs of nowadays high volume and high quality solar module production. dyMat PYE is available in unlimited quantity and suitable for thin film and mono-/polycristalline solar modules.

SolarMeasure - Measurement Options and Solutions for Solar Modules
Dr. Schenk, leading supplier of inspection and measurement solutions for the thin film solar module production will officially launch the brand new SolarMeasure at the 23rd Photovoltaic Expo in Valencia. With the new product family, Dr. Schenk extends the product range for the photovoltaic industry with even more innovative solutions for higher yield. Whereas SolarInspect (available since Q2 2007) is a specialized vision system to detect local irregularities and defects on/in the substrate, the new SolarMeasure products perform electrical and physical measurements. Available as add-on option they are the perfect complementation to the optical inspection and customers will benefit from the one-solution concept. Some of the new products will also be available as stand-alone systems.
The SolarMeasure product family comprises the following solutions:
Electrical Insulation Tester
This stand-alone measurement solution performs an electrical insulation test between the solar cells after scribing. The system detects shorts and minimum resistance between neighboring cells.
Microscope Review Station
Based on a high resolution matrix camera the Microscope Review Station has been developed as measurement solution with focus on width and distance between scribe lines.
Layer Thickness Monitoring
With this innovative option PV manufacturers can monitor local thickness variations after layer deposition steps covering the entire panel area. It enhances the control of the sputtering process.
Geometric Measurement
As measurement update for SolarInspect this system measures length, width and right angularity of the glass panels at the beginning of the production line.
Dr. Schenk GmbH develops, produces and markets innovative inspection and measurement solutions for automated quality assurance for the optical media, flat glass, film, foil, solar and semiconductor industries. From modular standard units to highly customized systems Dr. Schenk’s high-performance products and its long term customer support have precision in focus! •

In-Line Rapid Thermal Shock (IL-RTS)
In support of the photovoltaic industry’s shift toward using thinner wafers, Despatch Industries is now offering a new In-line Rapid Thermal Shock (IL-RTS) tool for solar cell manufacturers. This revolutionary tool features a simple, in-line process that applies a low temperature thermal spike to solar cells, eliminating the need for low-bow paste.
After moving through the firing furnace, cells enter the IL-RTS and are rapidly cooled to stabilize any thermal stresses. Following the cooling, wafers are warmed to above the dew point temperature to prevent condensation. The IL-RTS is designed to be compatible with any firing furnace on the front end, and the exit table accepts cell tester automation equipment for a completely seamless in-line process.
Despatch Industries partners with solar industry leaders to provide the process technology expertise for integrated solutions that make solar power a viable and affordable energy option. Despatch is consistently recognized for exceptional performance and process quality, optimal cell efficiency, maximum equipment uptime and reduced operating costs.
