microDRILL EWT
3D-Micromac AG, leading supplier of tailored laser micromachining systems, announces the launching of a dedicated workstation for back-side contacting of emitter wrap-through (EWT) solar cells. The novel-machining concept is based on the approved microDrill family.

Driven by the Renewable Energy Sources Act, solar industry is scrutinizing ever more effective ways to directly convert solar energy into electric current. The resulting technological stimulus advances the application of particularly flexible tools for micro structuring. For edge isolation as well as selective ablation of layers in the fabrication of thin-film solar cells, laser micromachining techniques are already well-established. Moreover, laser drilling proved predestined for the highly efficient generation of micro holes in EWT solar cells.

Staying abreast of these changes, 3D-Micromac AG advanced the approved microDRILL system. Utilizing an 80 W infrared laser, 5,000 clearance holes can be drilled per second. Their exact alignment at a repeat accuracy of 5 µm is achieved by edge and mark recognition.

Therewith, the preconditions for the generation of micro holes during an industrial-scale fabrication of EWT solar cells are given. CANDI DeZn
As DiethylZinc (DeZn) usage is rapidly increasing in photovoltaic applications for the deposition of the Transparent Conductive Oxide (TCO) layer by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), the need for a safe centralized liquid delivery system has become necessary in order to minimize fire hazards and optimize uptime of the deposition equipment. A dedicated version of Air Liquide's proprietary CANDI system was developed to meet ever-increasing requests for the centralized distribution of DeZn using large source tanks (up to 1500 liters). Specific features such as the tank change-out sequence, back-up distribution mode, tight delivery pressure control (+/- 50 mbar) and empty tank detection technique ensure a contamination-free, reliable & cost saving distribution of the precursor to the process. Unique safety features for DEZ distribution include a dedicated metal-alkyl vapor abatement system, hard-wired fire detection and double-wall containment for the distribution lines.

The weighted EU efficiency is >97% and is the result of a component layout designed for optimum power output.

The TripleLynx inverter is designed for high performance and is the first string inverter to combine a 1000Voc input range, 250-800 V mpp range and multiple DC input in a single unit. 1000 volt input enables you to use more modules in series. This means that the number of strings can be reduced, resulting in significantly lower installation costs.

Balanced 3 phase output ensures that TripleLynx inverters comply with utility standards. No current flows in the neutral conductor under balanced voltage conditions, which reduces losses on the AC side compared to three single phase inverters. A significant advantage is that only one inverter is required for three phased output, which makes installation both easier and cheaper than installing three single phase inverters.
