The international eco-friendly vehicle and sustainable mobility show will present the creative and R&D efforts of the automobile industry • Miguel Sebastián, the Spanish Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism, will inaugurate the Show on 20th May • More than 120 eco-friendly vehicles made by 34 makes will be presented for the first time at the Show, which will also feature a worldwide launch: the electric Golf
The International Eco-Friendly Vehicle and Sustainable Mobility Show, which is due to open its doors between 20th and 23rd May next, today staged a press conference prior to this year 2010 edition. At this event, various representatives of the main bodies involved in the project, which is organised by IFEMA and promoted by ANFAC and ANIACAM in collaboration with IDAE, sought to convey a series favourable forecasts to the media regarding the excellent response that has been recorded on the part of the automobile industry, companies involved in achieving the goal of sustainable mobility and end users.
In this respect, Luis Eduardo Cortés, the Chairman of the Executive Committee at IFEMA, the body that organises the Show, declared that "34 automobile makes will take part at the Show in order to present their new developments, the results of their creative and R&D efforts". At this exhibition, some 25% of the vehicles will be electric, with the rest of the exhibits consisting of the ideas proposed by other participating companies, bringing the total number of products and services on show to one hundred in total. These participants will consist, among others, of energy companies and companies involved in the design of recharging infrastructures for electric vehicles, as well as bodies responsible for creating the new mobility model.
Within this context, Víctor García, the Managing Director of ANIACAM, has highlighted the importance of this Show by stating, "that IFEMA is the forerunner and many other fair organisers are likely to follow suit, because this is the future of all shows of this kind". García, who represents the vehicle importers association, has also declared that the Show represents an opportunity "to show the efforts that the vehicle manufacturers have been making in order to create new eco-friendly developments that are also sustainable, in spite of the current crisis". This is a strategy that, according to García, "shows our conviction that, once the current situation has been overcome, we shall be able to continue to pursue our innovative ideas".
Alongside the new products and models that will be exhibited at the International Eco-Friendly Vehicle and Sustainable Mobility Show, Luis Valero, the Managing Director of ANFAC, also highlighted the importance of this event in terms of promoting the "grand debate that has emerged regarding these technologies". In this respect, in view of the key period of change that the automobile industry is currently witnessing, ANFAC has chosen the Show as the ideal framework for staging the conference entitled "Sustainable and Efficient Mobility As an Engine for Technological Innovation". This is an event that, "next 20th May, will bring together the main players that are leading this change within the automobile industry. I believe this statement is justified by the simple mention of just two of the speakers at the conference: Marc Duval-Destin, the Head of Research and Advanced Engineering at PSA Peugeot Citröen and President of EUCAR; and Ulrich Hackenberg, a Member of the Technical Development Committee at Volkswagen".
This session will complement the comprehensive Specialised Conference Programme that will be staged to coincide with the Show exhibition itself and various other activities, a Programme that Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, the Chairman of the Show's Organising Committee, recalled in his presentation. Espinosa de los Monteros explained to journalists at the press conference that, "alongside the first edition of the Show itself, this Programme was the most difficult aspect to organise due to the especially adverse circumstances that exist within the industry at present". Nevertheless, the Organising Committee Chairman pointed out that a sufficiently attractive market niche had been found for makes and society as a whole: "IFEMA has been able to grasp the opportunity, convince the automobile makes and create a forum at which the new mobility model can be promoted among the general public". In this respect, "the Show will offer participants the opportunity to discover what the current situation is like within the eco-friendly sector, what research is being carried out and what solutions are currently being developed".
The press conference featured the attendance of José María Álvarez del Manzano, the Chairman of the IFEMA Governing Board, Fermín Lucas, the Managing Director of IFEMA and, Marta Peraza and Alberto Díaz, the Director and Marketing Manager, respectively, for the International Eco-Friendly Vehicle and Sustainable Mobility Show.
On 20th May, Miguel Sebastián, the Spanish Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism will officially inaugurate the International Eco-Friendly Vehicle and Sustainable Mobility Show. The Press and Trade Professionals Day will also take place on 20th May, based on a timetable of 9.00 a.m. through to 7.00 p.m. Between Friday 21st and Sunday 23rd May, the Show will open its doors to the general public, from 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. The fair will coincide with the Energy and Environment International Trade Fair (GENERA), an event that is also organised by IFEMA. • Mayo 2010
Ford Verve Concept a bold and colourful concept car to be revealed at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show gives the first hints of Ford's future small-car design vision.
The significance of the Ford Verve Concept is that it's the first physical evidence of the design direction for an all-new small Ford since it was announced earlier this year that the European arm of the company's global Product Development group is taking the design and engineering lead in creating a new small-car portfolio for major world markets. The Ford Verve Concept is the first of three concept vehicles, which will debut in key regions - Europe, Asia and North America.
"Ford Verve Concept is presented here in Frankfurt as a bespoke concept car to generate reactions while our production plans are taking shape," said John Fleming, President and CEO of Ford of Europe. "Our Design team took an unrestrained approach to how our future small cars could look, and this eye-catching concept was one of the results. If we get the reaction we expect, I'm certain that the team will incorporate elements of this advanced design vision into our final production design. This will make the next generation of small cars from Ford very compelling indeed."

Finished in rich colours and distinctive materials inspired by the world of fashion and cosmetics, the Ford Verve Concept was created by a team of designers from Ford's studios in Dunton, England, and Cologne, Germany.
Building on the kinetic design momentum of Ford's recent iosis and iosis X concept cars, and the more premium feel of production models like the new Ford Mondeo, the Ford Verve Concept is a bold expression of a small-car vision.
As product development of a new generation of Ford small cars continues behind the scenes, Ford of Europe is hoping to gauge public reaction to the Ford Verve Concept during the Frankfurt Motor Show.
