MP-TEC GmbH & Co.KG

Skyrider- 1st hemispherical solar tracker
a further development of the first hemispherical solar tracking system. “Skyrider´s “ forerunner, developed by MP-TEC as well, was already awarded by the German "Innovationspreis Berlin Brandenburg" for its innovative functionality in 2007.
The system has been specifically designed to align solar modules and collectors to the current position of the sun taking into account the geographical characteristics of the region. The "Skyrider" will achieve best results between the 20th and the 55th latitude (From Copenhagen to the Canary Islands). In this region it is able to increase the solar output up to 40 per cent as for the first time the modules can be aligned to any point in the sky. The system is optimised for use in solar parks. "Skyrider" will be available in sizes 50, 40 or 25 quare metres from 4th quarter of 2008. The system holds steady up to wind forces eleven to twelve. MP-TEC´s engineers equipped "Skyrider" with a solid cardan joint instead of a rotary drive. This will lower the costs for maintenance and service dramatically. The joint of the system is encapsulated to avoid the infiltration of filth or dust like grains of sand.

MP-TEC GmbH & Co.KG is a medium-sized company based in the German town of Eberswalde in Brandenburg. As a systems supplier in the field of alternative energy, MP-TEC is a competent partner for retail and wholesale trades as well as small businesses all over Europe which are involved with solar power and heating, assembly systems, biomass, geothermal energy and heating technology. The company, founded by CEO Michael Preißel in 2002, has grown to become the largest supplier of solar-based systems in newly formed German states, with products based on a standardised assembly platform.

Robert Bürkle GmbH

Ypsator
The Ypsator® is used for laminating Photovoltaic modules. As Bürkle wishes to be the first in the heads of the solar module manufacturers in the booming market of the solar energy, they use a strategy that is otherwise only known from the automobile industry: the Freudenstadt company emotionalizes the high-tech production line.
In order to advance this strategy, the managing director, Hans-Joachim Bender, recruited the industrial designer Jürgen Schmid. He designed the covering of the Ypsator®. The covering not only shines in each production hall due to its yellow signal colour, but it also shines thanks to its process. The eight multi-opening lines  of Bürkle that will be delivered until the end of the year, are the first worldwide that produce photovoltaic modules on several openings, whereas only 50 per cent of the cycle time of the normal processes is required. On a surface of, for ex. 3,5 square meters per level and 5 openings, the customers of the solar sector can produce ten photovoltaic modules per batch at the same time. The annual total capacity of the up to two million Euro laminating lines (depending on their equipment) is approx. 500000 modules. This corresponds to an annual power capacity of 40 megawatts.
The advantages of the Ypsator® to conventional single-opening laminators clearly are in the process guiding and process reproducibility. Its structure and the homogeneous temperature distribution that can be reached through the heating of the heating platens via thermal oil, the process times are essentially reduced. The technology is also new: The lamination process is divided in order to configure the processes more flexible, to increase the same and to reduce the cycle time. In a first step, the modules are prelaminated. This means that the humidity and the air pockets are removed from the sandwich in the vacuum and that a vacuum-tight compound is created. Then the process is interrupted and in a second step, the lamination is finished in a subsequent press. In a third step, the “cooling”, the Ypsator® cooles down the solar module from 150°C to hand-hot temperatures. Especially the lamination of glass modules is very stress-reduced which reduces last, but not least, also the breakage of glass due to the three-stage process and the structure of the three laminating stages. In order to push the marketing, Bender has also recruited the name developer Manfred Gotta - the father of the made-up words Twingo and Cayenne.

Photovoltaics is the third large mainstay of the company. In 2008, Bürkle will gain a total turnover of 124 million Euros. This is a gain of more than a quarter than in 2007. This rise comes almost only from the Photovoltaic sector. Today, the company already has an export ratio of 85 % and thus generally focuses on the world market. The Photovoltaic sector of Bürkle initially targets on the European market - but also on Asia and then on the rest of the world. The new innovation is a multi-opening laminator which has not yet been developed with another company in this form. Moreover, Bürkle supplies the entire backend for the manufacture of thin film modules and also develops new core technologies therefore.

SANYO Component Europe GmbH

SANYO HIP-2XX-HDE1
The new HD (Honeycomb Design) Series is based on SANYO’s unique HIT (Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin Layer) Technology – well known for high conversion efficiencies and excellent temperature characteristics. It features the successful HIT technology in a new cell format.
Innovation is the HD (Honeycomb Design) cell. Four cell pieces form a hexagonal honeycomb design.
With this design, SANYO optimized the usage of round cells (wafer) and the utilization of space within the module – compared with pseudo-square cell.
But there is also a difference in the electrical characteristics. The combination of parallel and series connected HD cells lead to lower module voltage level as for SANYO’s NKHE1 module line where all cells are connected in a series – allowing more modules to connect in one string.

Technical Data Module Type HIP-230HDE1:

Conversion efficiency cell: 19.2%, Conversion efficiency module: 16.6%
Maximum power (Pmax) [W]: 230
Open circuit voltage (Voc) [V]: 42,3
Short circuit current (Isc) [A]: 7,22
Temperature coeffizient Pmax [%/°C]: -0.3
Dimensions [mm]: 1610H x 861W x 35T
Weight: 16.5kg
Certificate: CE, IEC 61215, IEC 61730 (PCII)

SANYO is leading the way in research and development as a pioneer in the field of photovoltaic power generation. Since 1975 SANYO‘s solar technology is making an important contribution to the environmentally friendly enhancement of living standards, and it is leading us into a bright future.
The SANYO HIT Solar cell (thin mono crystalline silicon wafer surrounded by ultra-thin amorphous silicon layers) and module provide industry leading performance: very high conversion efficiency, outstanding temperature characteristics and higher output power on a given roof area compared to conventional crystalline modules.

Sunways AG

Solar Inverter PT 30k
The first central inverter by Sunways AG will be initially presented to an international audience at the PVSEC: Following the successful market launch in Germany, the central inverter PT 30k will be available in Spain and Italy and, upon request, also in other countries as from the third quarter 2008; certification for Spain and Italy has been completed.
The Solar Inverter PT 30k offered by Sunways is a transformerless HERIC central inverter with an output power of 30 kilowatts and three-phase power feeding into the grid. PT stands for „Performance Technology“ and indicates the high efficiency rates of more than 97.5 percent in combination with a very broad MPP voltage range from 420 to 800 volts. In addition, the inverter makes the best possible use of the potential MPP system voltage of solar modules with a maximum DC voltage of 1,000 volts and ensures cost optimization in connection with the installation of large solar systems.
The HERIC topology applied by Sunways over many years was adapted to the symmetrical three-phase feed. This technology produces maximum yields in every performance category. In terms of maximum and European efficiency rates, the PT 30k inverter holds a top position and also is among the most compact and lightest devices of its performance category.

In other countries, the device may be purchased via the sales offices in Bologna (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain) as well as via the subsidiary MHH France in Toulouse (France).
The core competence of Sunways AG is the development and manufacture of innovative, high-quality products for the generation of electricity from solar energy (photovoltaics). With silicon-based solar cells, inverters and modules, Sunways offers the components of the solar value-added chain that are of major importance to operators of photovoltaic systems. Sunways products offer high efficiency rates, ecological advantages and sophisticated design. All products are subject to the most stringent quality requirements and various tests as to their compliance with quality standards.
